C. Warren Kellerhouse, 72, passed away August 17th, 2010. He was born in Saugerties, New York to the late James and Julia Kellerhouse of South Carolina. He entered the United States Navy in 1957. He became a Midshipmen in 1958. While at the U.S. Academy, he decided he wanted to pursue music. In 1961, he auditioned for and was accepted to the Navy Music Program as a piano instrumentalist. He attended the Navy School of Music in Washington, DC and upon graduation was assigned as an instructor at the school where he served until 1963. Following that assignment he served in a sea-going band before reporting to the U.S. Naval Academy Band in Annapolis, MD in 1964, where he served until he retired in 1983 at the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
He was an ardent supporter of the Navy Fleet Reserve Association and often entertained at Annapolis Branch 24 for dinners and dances. He was a member of the Sons of Norway, Chapter 215 in Baltimore and was also a member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 40-543 in Baltimore.
With a superior mind for trivia he was undefeatable at Scrabble and other board games he would play online with his family and friends. He enjoyed carpentry and loved model railroading. As a musician he was best known for his abilities and talent as an arranger and composer of music for jazz and concert bands. He was widely published throughout the Navy Music Program and internationally. He earned a Bachelor of Music Degree from Towson University in 2002 and a Master of Music Degree from Towson University in 2004.
Warren is survived by his wife of 23 years, Hjordis (nee Midtgaard) Kellerhouse, his daughters Lisa Ann Kellerhouse of Stone Mountain, GA, Felicia Thompson of Grantville, GA, and Mary Ann Kellerhouse of Woodstock, GA, his half-sister Beverly Hines of South Carolina, 2 granddaughters, and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death in 1968 by his son Charles Warren Kellerhouse, Jr.
