William James Bundy, 67, a resident of Crownsville for 39 years, passed away on March 26, 2014. He was born in Erie, PA on July 13, 1946 to the late Donald R. and Ester A Bundy. He graduated from McDowell High School in 1964 and Penn State Behrend University in 1966. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Gitmo, Cuba. After being discharged from the military, he went on to attend Northern Virginia Community College and graduated in 1971 with a degree of Business Administration. He was a member of MENSA for 30 years. Bill started his own business, Bundy Built Homes, and designed and built custom homes for 30 years. He achieved a lifelong dream of becoming a licensed sport pilot. His greatest joy was taking his wife on short trips, getting a "$100 hamburger". Bill enjoyed traveling with his wife all over the world. He had visited over 40 countries and had planned a 49 day cruise for he and his wife to South America prior to his death. He loved feeding and watching the birds outside from his favorite chair. He had many bird reference books that he used to identify the many species that came to feed outside his window. Bill worked extensively on his family tree that his mother had started many years ago. Doing research and discovering his heritage was very fulfilling to him. He took stained glass classes and loved making beautiful pieces to those he cherished most. He loved his wife and quoted many times to mere strangers, "he had more happiness in the short eight years they had been together than the first 60 years of his life". He often sang to his wife "On Top of the World", which was their song. Bill will be deeply missed by all who loved and admired him.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Elaine Gosnell Bundy; three siblings, Richard Bundy, Thomas Bundy and Karen Bryant; two very special nieces, Laurel Bundy and Melissa McClaren; one very special great-nephew, Austin Wolyniec; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
