DENFORD, William John Sr., 59, of Windsor Mill, passed away on January 3, 2014 in his home. William was born on October 29, 1954 in Baltimore and grew up in Glen Burnie. He graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1972 and then went on to protect and serve the public as a police officer in Baltimore City for 33 years. William was currently a detective in the Criminal Investigations Division but also worked in the Violent Crimes Impact Division, Organized Crime Division (Narcotics), Central District, Southwest District, Education and Training Section, and the Special Enforcement Section. During his 33 years on the force, William earned three official commendations, one bronze star, and two unit citations. He loved sports, especially the Orioles and the Ravens, but also basketball, fishing, crabbing, and eating. William was also considered to be a loving family man.
William is survived by his wife, Anne Denford; his children, Lindsay Jackson, William Denford Jr., Joshua Denford, and Gabrielle Denford; his grandson, Peyton Denford; his parents, Virginia and Charles Denford; and his siblings, Linda Jordan, Terry Denford, Robert Denford, Chuck Denford, and Shirley Ann Bertling.
