William Ervin Sr

William Dorsey Ervin Sr. "Hawk", 85, of Chester, passed away on October 17, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born in Baltimore to the late William D. and Flora E. Ervin. He honorably served his country in the Army from 1953-1955. He retired from the Boilermakers Local 193 in 1995 after many years of service. William enjoyed fishing, crabbing and boating; but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was a devoted family man and played an active role in both his children's and grandchildren's lives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frederick Elwood Ervin Sr.; and his nephew, Frederick Elwood Ervin Jr.
William is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Janet Virginia Ervin; devoted children, William Dorsey Ervin Jr., Kimberly Anne Berg (Michael Sr.), Karyn Lynne Vetter (David); loving grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Naecker (Silas), Ashley Beth Gertz (Casey), Michael Rodney Berg Jr. (Christina), William Dorsey Ervin III (Jessie), Nicholas Angelo Ervin (Bethany), Dorsey David Vetter and Shelby Elizabeth Vetter; and cherished great-grandchildren, Mason, Maxx and Myles Naecker, London Elle Gertz, Hendrix Michael Berg and one on the way, Ireland Rose Gertz.
The family will receive visitors at the family owned Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Highway) Glen Burnie on Tuesday, October 23rd, from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. Services are private. Interment Meadowridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by visiting www.stjude.org.
