William Pavlis (Col. U.S. Army Ret.)of Ft. Myers Florida for 18 years
and previously of Glen Burnie, passed away in Glen Burnie.
He was born May 16, 1921, in New York, N.Y., and served as a Colonel in the
U.S. Army. Over the years, he earned many awards and medals for his service, including
the WWII Victory Medal, 5 O/S Bars Vietnam Service Medal, Meritorious Unit
Citation, American Campaign Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal,
European African Mid-East Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Staff Service
Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Armed Forces Reserve Medal.
William was a member of the Elks Lodge of Glen Burnie, the American Legion in Severn,
the Masons, the Boumi Shriner's, the International Military Officers
Association of America and the National Military Intelligence Association. He
enjoyed playing golf and other sports, as well as traveling.
He was preceded in death by his cherished wife of 40 years, Marjorie A. Pavlis; and
son, Richard Pavlis. He is survived by his beloved son, Jeffrey Pavlis of Glen Burnie; two grandchildren, Michael and Jonathan Pavlis; and two brothers, George and Louis Pavlis.
The burial at Arlington National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
