William Richard (Buzz) Sheffer, 87, of Glen Burnie passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2012. Born on March 2, 1925 in Baltimore, MD, Buzz grew up in Hampden. He served in the US Army during WWII in the 628 Tank Destroyer Battalion, the 5th Armored (Victory) Division. He was discharged from the Army December 6, 1945. He was employed at Weil & Scott, Day Ball's, Belmont Steel Co., Swing Motors. Buzz was employed for the City of Baltimore when he retired after 28 years. He was a member of the Rangers Social Club in Hampden. On February 7, 1953 he married Charlotte May (Bayne). During his lifetime he lived in Baltimore, Pasadena and Glen Burnie. He loved to garden, read, watch old movies and spend time with his grandchildren. He touched the lives of all he met with his sense of humor. He was a member of Glen Burnie United Methodist Church where he was active in the United Methodist Men and Young at Heart. Buzz was preceded in death by his parents, George Franklin and Margaret Rose (Stein) Sheffer; his brothers, Howard Franklin and Allan Van Lee; and granddaughter, Megan Marie Harris. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Charlotte (Bayne) Sheffer; two daughters, Darlene Sheffer of Kansas City, KS and Linda Harris of Severna Park; son-in-law Steve; and grandchildren, Stephen Jr., Christopher, and Rachel Harris.
