On June 6, 2007, William S. Stack, Sr. suddenly passed away at the age of 83. Beloved husband of the late Susie P. Stack; devoted father to Stewart, Paul, and Elaine Stack, and Jean Gavigan; dear brother to Charles and Thomas Stack, and the late Elizabeth Buckingham, Doris Barth, and Jean, Leon, and Carlyle Stack; and cherished grandfather of eight. He was a graduate of City College, and served in the US Army Air Corps. While in the army, he served in England, Belgium, and France. He was employed at Locust Point building troop transport Liberty ships, then entered into the US Army. Upon return from WWII, he was employed at Balland-Zimmerman Insurance in Baltimore City. From an entry level clerk position, he became a sales representative, the co-owner, and single owner of the agency. He retired at the age of 80 after 58 years in the business. William was a longstanding member of Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church, the church choir, and the Methodist Mens Group. He also served as former administrative board member of the church. During his spare time, he greatly enjoyed singing- trained tenor often serving as a soloist for weddings/funerals, and special events, he was also an avid vegetable gardener, and was very devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
