William George Wellham, 96, of Linthicum, passed away on July 28, 2014 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. He was born in Baltimore, MD on February 23, 1918 to the late Frances and William Wellham. William graduated from Glen Burnie High School and went on to serve our country proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps from January 1942 - January 1946 in the Asiatic Pacific Area. He was a Platoon Sergeant and was awarded the Purple Heart, Pacific Campaign Medal, and the Presidential Unit Citation. He then worked at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company as a driver/salesman and retired as a manager of data processing after 45 years. William was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, The MD Chapter of the 1st Marine Division Association and the Guadalcanal Veterans Association. He enjoyed reading and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 64 years, Joyce May Wellham, his siblings, Thomas Wellham and Mary Wellham, and his grandson, Thomas James Wellham.
William is survived by his loving children, William Roy Wellham, Mark Wellham, Janet Conner, Martin Wellham, Ann Wellham and Robert Wellham; nine beloved grandchildren; six cherished great-grandchildren; and his dear siblings, Frances Wellham, Marjorie Bavis and John Wellham.
