Blanche Viola "Toby" Jones died peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on Friday, May 5th, in Glen Burnie, Maryland, at the age of 82.
Blanche was born on May 1, 1935 in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Wade and Viola Sellman.
She graduated from high school in 1953. She married Luther Jones in 1956 and the couple had three children; Bruce, Beverly and Joseph. Her children and grandchildren remember her as the most caring woman they know who would do anything for anybody.
Blanche's earliest job was as a cosmetologist and she later retired from the Motor Vehicle Administration in Glen Burnie after working there for many years.
Blanche was a longtime member of Glen Burnie United Methodist Church and was involved in many church activities; she loved her church family.
She enjoyed playing bingo and the slot machines, and watching the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens win.
Blanche is survived by five brothers and four sisters, her son, Joseph Jones and his wife, Betty of Centreville; son-in-law, John Beever of Chester; grandchildren, Jessica and Jonathan Pounds of Burleson, Texas, Jenna Beever of Chester, Chris Schell of Pennsylvania, and Sarah and Hannah Jones of Centreville; and great grandson, David Schell, Jr. of Queenstown.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wade and Viola Sellman; husband, Luther Jones; her son, Bruce Jones; her daughter, Beverly Beever; and her grandsons, David Schell and John Beever, IV.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, 11 am, at Glen Burnie United Methodist Church. Viewing will be held prior from 10 am - 11 am.
The family would like to thank Blanche's oncologists, nurses and caregivers at The Tate Center, and home care staff from Hospice of the Chesapeake for their care during the past 8 months.
