On Monday, December 5, 2005, Mr. Charles Curtis Brooks, age 95, of Glen Burnie. Beloved husband of the late Mary Inez Brooks; Loving father of Curtis B. Brooks and M. Deanna Hill and her husband Richard; caring former father-in-law of Anne Brooks Heiland; Also survived by three grandsons, three granddaughters, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter and his dear care-takers: Windy Sommerville, Katherine Robinson, Nellie Brown and Doreen Harris. He is predeceased by his brothers Elmer and Roland Brooks and his sisters Mazie Brooks, Lola Davis, Ruth Wilkins and Dorothy Lewis. Curtis worked in the Washington Navy Yard as a bricklayer. He then went to work at Ft. Meade as an Auto Mechanic until he retired after 30 years. Curtis then worked for five more years as a carpenter at Bowie State College. He enjoyed carpentry and working with his hands. He was also a farmer and grew vegetables and flowers. He enjoyed helping his neighbors and was the kind of person that was always there for his family and friends. Curtis knew how to play the violin and enjoyed music, especially classical music. He was a honest and humble man with a true affection for his family and friends. He lovingly cared for and devoted time to his wife, children and grandchildren. Curtis and his wife Inez embodied the family's dream of a perfectly married couple. Each defined the other as a dream come true. Their love for each other was the bond they shared and the glue that made them one until Inez proceeded him in death on June 30, 2005. The twinkle in his eye dimmed after that.
