Charles Carroll McGuire Jr (Mack) of Linthicum Maryland passed away on November 19th, 2022 at the age of 90 at his home. Born in Baltimore Maryland January 28th, 1932 he was the son of the late Marie Gunning and Charles C. McGuire Sr. He attended St Rose of Lima Primary School, and Mount St. Joseph High School where he was a three-sport athlete playing, Football, Basketball, and Baseball. After declining an opportunity to play minor league baseball to attend college at the University of Baltimore on an athletic scholarship, where he received a degree in accounting. After college, he was proud to serve as a Sargent in the U.S. Army Elite 82 Airborne Division, at Fort Brag North Carolina. After completion of his military service, he spent 15 years as a CPA in public accounting with the national firm of Ernst and Young. He then continued his career with Mercantile Bankshares Corporation as part of a management group working on acquisitions and mergers of independent banking companies. In 1994 he retired as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer to enjoy time with family and to pursue his love of boating, fishing, and golf. He earned a Coast Guard Captains license and enjoyed his time on the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean as well as his time in the Florida Keys with his friends from Maryland and Delaware. He was proud to be a lifetime member of the Brooklyn Booster Club.
He is survived by Mary Ballman McGuire his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 70 years, whom he married while in college. Four wonderful sons, Charles III (Beth), Mark, Michael (Stacy) and Matthew, his dear brother Robert (Sue), eight grandchildren Patrick, Kate, Caitlin , Kelly, Erin, Connor, Matt, and Ryan and four great grandchildren. Liam, Thomas, Luca, and Tucker, who loved their Pop-Pop.
Family and friends are invited to gather at the Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, PA, 1 Second Avenue SW (at Crain Highway), Glen Burnie, MD 21061 on Sunday, November 27, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, November 28, 2022 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 6405 S. Orchard Road, Linthicum, MD 21090 at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Brooklyn, MD. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the hospice of the Chesapeake.
