Dolores Bell

Dolores Catherine Bell passed away peacefully on January 8, 2022. She was 86 years old. Dolores was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to many.

In passing, she joins her husband, Ted Bell; her parents, Harrison and Stella Daugherty; her sister Maryann Bacon; her brothers, Bill, Ronald, John, Haywood and Ralph Daugherty.

Her spirit, legacy and memory will live on and be celebrated by her daughter, Debbie; granddaughter, Michele; her brothers, Jack, Dave and Martin Daugherty; her sisters, Naomi Johnson, Liz Slater, and Carol Daugherty; her cousins and many friends.

Dolores grew up in Philippi, West Virginia and lived on a farm with her parents, brothers and sisters until 1953. She graduated from Philippi High School in 1953. She met her soon to be husband, Ted and they were married in November 1954. They lived in Severn, Maryland and had one daughter named Debbie in 1955 who they adored.

Dolores had several jobs throughout her lifetime. She was a school bus driver, a LPN nurse, had a small upholstery business with some friends and was the owner of Bell’s Septic Service for 25 years.

Dolores loved to help people. She volunteered at Nichols Bethel Church in the clothes closet, played in the bells, sang with the 8 am choir, was involved with the skits at church prior to Covid, worked on the ham and oyster dinner and helped out at the winter relief program. Dolores was able to go to the Holy Land with Reverend Manning and the church group in 1988.

Dolores enjoyed gardening, cooking, bowling, riding her motorcycle, watching tv, eating snacks and spending time with her brothers and sisters. She also enjoyed spoiling her granddaughter, Michele.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made at the American Cancer Society or Make-A-Wish Foundation.
