Irene Elizabeth Bolden, 91, of Glen Burnie, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2020. Irene was born on November 8, 1928, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Agnes and John Markiewicz. She was an Administrative Assistant for Montgomery Ward and was a member at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Severn, and prior to that, St. Mary Star of the Sea in Baltimore. Family was everything to Irene, however, she also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, adult coloring, BINGO, reading, spending time with friends and cheering on the Ravens and Orioles!
Irene was predeceased by her devoted husbands, Melvin Carper and Charles Bolden, as well as her siblings, Edward (Florence) Markiewicz and Marion (Albert) Thompson. She is survived by her loving children, Mark (Deborah) Carper and Christine (Keith) Thompson; her beloved grandchildren, Shane (Mia) Thompson, Lauren (Karl) Smith, and Rachel Carper; her cherished great-grandchildren, Alyssa Carper, Abigail Thompson, Lyla Smith, Brayden Thompson, Adalyn Smith, Kyle Smith, and Caitlin Thompson; and her sister, Rita (Robert) Chapman; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family & friends.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy), on Sunday, November 1st, from 2 – 4 & 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 2nd, at 11 am, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 801 Stevenson Road, Severn, Maryland 21144. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Irene’s name may be made to St. Bernadette Catholic Church at www.stbernadette.org OR Hospice of the Chesapeake at www.hospicechesapeake.org.
