James Myer, Jr.

James Omar Myer, Jr., 79, of Arnold passed away on April 11, 2020. Jim was born on October 18, 1940 in Clarksburg, West Virginia to the late James O. Myer, Sr. and Wanda Virginia Collins Myer. Jim’s education included a BS in Accounting from the University of Baltimore, Associate Degrees in both Computer Science and Law from Anne Arundel Community College. He worked for the Social Security Administration as an accounting clerk; Haskins and Sells Accounting Firm as an auditor; Montgomery Wards as comptroller; London Fog as an auditor; and Macke Vending/Allegheny Beverage Company. He was a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and Severna Park Baptist Church. He was Treasurer for Riverside Baptist and Severna Park Baptist Churches and was a Deacon at Severna Park Baptist. Jim’s hobbies included playing golf, bowling, traveling, baseball and coaching. As a side note, Jim also signed with the Baltimore Orioles in 1960 and played 1st Base, which was a lifetime dream after playing baseball as boy in the Sandlots, to Little League player, to High School athlete, to the Major Leagues.  He also had several jobs after his retirement which included, Real Estate Agent, Travel Agent and usher for the Baltimore Orioles. He also planned golf retreats for men and camping trips for church families.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judy Lee Myer; his devoted children, Jodi Lynn Myer, and James S. Myer; his loving grandchildren, Julia Marshall, Jacob Taylor Myer, Sara Nicole Myer; his step-grandchildren, Seth Pailet and Rachel Pailet; his cherished great-grandson, Devon Lee Marshall; his dear brother, Robert Wesley Myer; his sisters-in-law, Barbara Myer and Susan Marie Hicks; and son-in-law, Philip DeLao. Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, William Dennis Myer, Sr.
