Kenneth K. Kerns, 80, resident of Ferndale for 47 years, died at his home February 1, after a two year battle with lung cancer. He was born October 4, 1930 in Paw-Paw, W. Va. He served in the U.S. Air Force, and retired from the Social Security Administration as a Disability Examiner. Kenneth was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and a believer in Christ. He loved to play tennis and was affectionately nicknamed "Killer Kerns" on the tennis court. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling, reading, listening to southern gospel music and spending time with his family.
Kenneth is survived by one son, Douglas Kerns; two daughters, Teresa Godfrey and Julie Moody; grandson, Kenny Godfrey; two granddaughters, Tiffany Jones and Meaghan Moody; one great grandson, Isaiah Jones; one sister, Ruby Byers; and one brother, Darrell Cowgill.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Kerns; brother Fred Cowgill; and sister Freida Bowen.
