Lester Hovatter

August 22, 1919 — April 15, 2009

On Wednesday, April 15, 2009 Lester I. Hovatter of Jarrettsville, formerly of Ft. Meyers Florida, originally from Glen Burnie, Maryland. Beloved husband of the late Rosemary Hovatter. Devoted father of David L., and James E. Hovatter. Loving father in law of Pamela A., and Joan M. Hovatter. Cherished grandfather of Jeremy, Matthew and Andrew Hovatter, Kate Cavey, John Jr., and Jason Erbe. His 5 great grandchildren, were truly the apple of his eye. Fond brother of Karl, Elbert, Arlie, Jr, and Alfred Hovatter, Nona Latta, Nada Woodworth, and Dorothy Wilmot. He was predeceased by his parents, Laura and Arlie, Sr., 2 brothers, Willis and Kenneth and one sister Carmel Hovatter.
Mr. Hovatter was a member of Jarrettsville United Methodist Church, and previously Glen Burnie United Methodist Church, Pythagoras Masonic Lodge #123 for 60 years, Araba Shrine Temple in Ft. Myers Florida, the American Legion and the VFW.
"Pop", Mr. Hovatter, enjoyed most of all spending time with his family in every aspect of life. He most especially enjoyed the time he shared with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Taking the family fishing was a very enjoyable past time when the family would go to Florida to vacation. He enjoyed stamp collecting, gardening, puzzle books and playing cards. "Pop" would grow some of the most beautiful and delicious vegetables, as well as growing beautiful flowers, that anyone would could ever ask for and they were very plentiful. He truly enjoyed the years he spent in Florida after retirement. "Pop" shared a lot of stories of his life, and everyone will truly miss the way he could mesmerize you while talking to you.
