On Saturday, February 21, 2015, Mr. Louis O. Benson, 84, passed away at his residence in Glen Burnie. Mr. Benson was born on January 3, 1931 in Baltimore City, MD. He honorably served our country for 13 years in the U.S.M.C., both in the active duty and on reserves. Lou received a Purple Heart at the Chosin Reservoir during the Korean War. After the war Lou worked for Carlings Brewing and later Heileman Brewing Company, from which he retired as a Journeyman Maintenance Machinist. Mr. Benson was a past Post Commander of the VFW Post 434, a member of the Marine Corp League, Glen Burnie Moose, and a proud member of the "Chosin Few". He enjoyed playing horseshoes, cards and spending time with his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Louis is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Ellen Benson. He is also survived by his daughter, Deborah Pease and her husband Marvin, his granddaughters, Kristie Pirozzi and her husband Mike, and Jennifer Bogar and her husband Andy, his step granddaughter, Kirstyn Pease, his great granddaughters; Courtney Pirozzi, and Siri and Sadie Bogar, and his great grandson, Mason Russett. Mr. Benson was preceded in death by his grandson, Leonard F. Stevens, II.
