Marguerite W. Harper, 92, of Linthicum, passed away on Saturday, June 10, surrounded by family.
Marguerite was born on May 15, 1925 in Pasquotank County, North Carolina to the late Darius Graham and Nellie Pearl (Cartwright) White. In 1946 on a dare from her sister Jesse William Harper, Jr. asked Marguerite out on a date. That date resulted in him winning a nickel and 49 years of marriage to Marguerite before he passed away in 1995. Marguerite and Jesse moved to Arbutus in 1957 and then purchased a home in Linthicum where they raised their family and Mrs. Harper still resided until her passing.
She retired after many years of employment in 1985 from Maryland National Bank. She enjoyed working with numbers at the bank and at home however her greatest joy and consolation came from her faith. She was a member of Linthicum Baptist Church and volunteered in many different capacities such as the card ministry where she sent many cards of encouragement to others.
She enjoyed word searches, listening to the Gaither's, and spending time with her family.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Nel Harper of Linthicum, Patricia O'Shea and her husband, Pat of Rosedale, and William Harper and his wife, Suzanne of Boca Raton, FL; grandchildren, Mike, Ron, Alan, and Tim Chandler, Andrew, Nicholas, and Lauren Harper, Greg and Chris O'Shea; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Maxine Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her infant daughter, Peggy Jean Harper; siblings, D.G White, Jr. and Doris Williams.
She was a beloved mother who had a strong faith and devotion to family. She lived her life the way she ended her many letters she sent out to others, "In Christian Love".
