Melvin James Pletka

Melvin James Pletka, 76, of Glen Burnie, passed away at his home on December 29, 2021. He was born in Baltimore to the late Isabelle and George Pletka Sr. Melvin honorably served his country in the Army and attended the University of Baltimore, receiving his Bachelor’s degree. Melvin was an accountant for John’s Hopkins Bayview, Commercial Credit and Mitchell Asphalt. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid Ravens fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George Pletka Jr.

Melvin is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Sandra G. Pletka; and his loving children, Christopher John Pletka and Erin Noel Pletka-Sherbs and her husband, Brandon Morgan Sherbs.

Visitation will be held at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, on Sunday, Jan. 9th, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, 10 AM, in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Martini Lutheran Church, 100 W. Henrietta Street, Baltimore, MD 21230.
