Nicholas Fontana, Sr

February 6, 1918 — January 18, 2016

Nicholas A. Fontana, Sr., 97 of Boynton Beach, Florida and Millersville, Maryland passed away on January 18, 2016. He was born on February 6, 1918 in Manhattan, New York to Matthew and Antoinette Fontana. Nicholas served in the US Army during WWII and made the D-Day landing at Utah Beach on June 6, 1944. He also received the Purple Heart. He was a wonderful husband and father.

Nicholas was preceded in death by his son, James Fontana and his grandson, Francis Ellison.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Eileen E. Fontana; his children, Annette M. Bedford (Hugh), Nicholas A. Fontana, Jr. (Karen), and Matthew J. Fontana (Kathleen Emily); his grandchildren, Nicholas Fontana, III, Kimberly Restivo, Natalie Engelmeyer, Kathy Burgess, Laura Fontana, Heather Johnson and Nicole Stumpf; his great-grandchildren, Brittney Lyons, James Johnson, Johnny Stumpf, Hugh Stumpf, Colton Stumpf, Luke Restivo, Carly Restivo, Lucia Burgess, Olivia Burgess and Heidi Engelmeyer.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or to a charity of your choice.
