William Thomas Meade was born October 31, 1926 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Jeanette Pollard and Ralph Thomas Meade. William was the second of five children. He departed this life on September 3, 2013 at St. Agnes Hospital.
He had been battling cancer for many years and just recently developed pneumonia and died with family by his side whom he had not seen in many years.
We as family have many fond memories of visiting "Uncle Biggie" each Sunday with his mother, our grandmother and taking him his favorite foods, snacks and cigarettes.
The staff at the Family Services Foundation (Arunah Ave. house) stated that William was many things to many people and he was affectionately known as "Pop", to others as "The Shredder". He was very helpful around the house and at his day program by assisting staff to dispose of unwanted paper and boxes by ripping them up, he loved to do that. He had an unbelievable spirit, and he could make you laugh just by being himself. He loved his hats, his favorite were the red ones. He took pride in keeping his things neat. Pop was a person who loved to laugh and he liked to dance, he also liked music and if we were lucky he would serenade us at times. He enjoyed going out meeting people and shaking hands with everyone. His warm smile and infectious laughter will be surely missed by all.
He leaves to cherish his memory; one uncle, Matthew Pollard of Virginia, 10 nieces, 7 nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews, along with numerous cousins here in Maryland and Virginia. Four sisters preceded him in death: Louise Smith, Beatrice Buckner, Alice Blakley and Dorothy Benton. The family would like to thank the staff at Family Services Foundation for their loving care and dedicated service to our loved one.
