William Wild, Jr.

May 30, 1942 — February 4, 2021

Glen Burnie

William T. Wild Jr. (Bill, Pop) passed away on February 4, 2021 after a short illness. He was born in Rhode Island to William T. Wild Sr. and Margaret Grant Wild. Bill graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Providence and attended Providence College. He then joined the United States Marine Corps and met the love of his life, Patricia Fleishell, at the USO in Baltimore. They were married for 57 years.

Following his service in the USMC, Bill joined the Anne Arundel County Police Department where he served as a patrol officer, detective, and achieved the rank of Sergeant. He was one of the founding members of the Child Abuse Division of AACPD in the 1970s. Bill was proud of his 24 years of service to the people of Anne Arundel County. Upon retirement, he became a bailiff at the District Court in Glen Burnie.

Bill and Pat loved traveling, and they were able to visit every continent of the world except Antarctica with a close group of friends. He was an enthusiastic fan of his grandchildren’s sports teams and loved attending their games. Bill also enjoyed cheering on the Orioles and Ravens, and attending Orioles Opening Day with his sons and grandsons was a yearly tradition.

Bill was also active in the community. He coached baseball for Glen Burnie Boys Baseball for many years. He was a member and longtime Treasurer of Knights of Columbus Council 7025, and was a member of Marine Corps League Detachment 1049. He was a long-time parishioner of Christ the King Church in Glen Burnie. He was a Charter Member of FOP Lodge 70 and enjoyed attending meetings with his police family.

Family was everything to Bill, and they all enjoyed spending time together. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Sandra Lemay, and his grandson, William T. Wild IV. He is survived by Patricia, and his three children Lisa, Bill III (Betz) and Kelly Breeden (Ron). He leaves behind six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
